Irvine Korean Parents Association (IKPA)

Irvine Korean Parents Association (IKPA) is a non-profit organization established in 1997 by Korean parents of public high schools in Irvine. IKPA works with Irvine Unified School District and the  Irvine Public Schools Foundation  to bridge between teachers, students, parents and schools.
IKPA reaches out to our Korean community to create a better understanding of the public school system and to bridge the cultural gap between parents, students and teachers.  We are under the umbrella of the Irvine Public Schools Foundation and all fundraising events are supported by IPSF.
We also focus on establishing the Korean identity among the Korean students coming from various cultural backgrounds and helping those students adjust to school life, as well as raising funds to improve the educational environment and promoting awareness of Korea among other ethnic groups in our community.

Our main events include PACE (Program to Advance Cultural Education) and IYMF (Irvine Youth Music Festival).
PACE (Program to Advance Cultural Education) is offered by IKPA, IPSF (Irvine Public Schools Foundation), and California State University, Fullerton.  PACE provides experiential learning opportunities for teachers in IUSD to deepen their understanding of Korea and Korean culture.
Since its beginning in 2006,every summer, 20 teachers attend sessions on the history and culture of Korea, as well as  facilitated discussions among educators ,Korean parents and students.

IYMF (Irvine Youth Music Festival) intends to provide an opportunity for the  students in Irvine to give back to the community through their talents and to become a part of the supporters for Irvine Unified School District. Since 2001, it takes place at the Northwood High School Performing Art Center every year and all performers are selected through the audition and given the certificate from the city.

Aside from these, IKPA hosts events such as Value Card Sales, bazaars, educational seminars for fundraising. All proceeds are donated to the Irvine Public Schools Foundations and Irvine Public Schools.
